More Photoshop progress
Whilst improving and developing my music magazine cover, I realized that I was using too much burgundy and found that it clashed a bit. Seen as I my colour scheme is red, black and white, I thought of trying a different colour for the graphic. I changed the graphic to the models lip colour and found that it didn't work or look so well and decided to carry on experimenting. I also got rid of the text that was in the graphic at the top , underneath the announcement of The Arctic Monkeys and moved everything up.
- I decided to carry on experimenting with the colour of the graphic as I was not happy with the colour that it originally was. I decided to go with the grey that is on the models shirt. I used the eyedropper tool to copy the colour from the models shirt onto the graphic. Looking at the grey, I can see that it doesn't really work very well with the colour scheme and looks out of place.
- I developed my music magazine cover by adding a bar code as well as adding in text around the image. The text looked quite messy, however I was experimenting with the position of the text. I also changed the colour of the graphic again to a lighter shade of burgundy but I still feel as if the colour and the graphic isn't really working so well on my cover.
- I got rid of the graphic on my cover as felt that it wasn't working out so well as I expected. I started adding and moving text around on the cover. To the right, I wanted to have all the text that would have pull quotes and to the left, I was going to have the text that doesn't really include any pull quotes. I also added a white box on top of the burgundy graphic to show that the magazine is introducing something new that they have come across. I put down the name of some Indie bands and added a burgundy line underneath to separate the Indie bands.
- The white box that has 'introducing' in it, I decided to add some definition to it so that it wouldn't look so bland. I doubled clicked on the layer so that the box with the layering styles would appear. I started to play around with the drop shadow and the inner shadow so that the word had more depth again. I also used a more "elegant" font that is on top of the Indie artist. I was going for a font that is all joined up, and therefore if I come across that font, I will change it. I shortened each burgundy line underneath the Indie bands. The headlines on the magazine are in burgundy to attract the reader.
- Looking at the magazine, I felt as if I had to balance the sides out. To balance out the text, I added a plus sign and doubled clicked on the layer to get the layer style. I added a drop shadow and an inner shadow to make the plus sign seem more 3D. The plus sign is so that I write in more Indie bands so that the reader can see what bands will also be featured in the music magazine.
- After adding all the text in and positioning it where I want it to be, I added two black lines on either side of the magazine cover so that I could line all the text up so that it is all in line with each other.
